An Inside Exit: Selling Your Business to Family, Managers, or Employees

Date:

Tuesday, May 25, 2021 - 15:00 to 16:30

Summary:

Starting to think about ownership succession for your enterprise? For many business owners, the best option is to sell to folks already involved in the business such as family members, managers, or the broader group of employees. In this webinar, you will learn the basics of how to assess internal exit paths. Following an overview of general ownership succession principles and considerations, we will take a close look at three different ways of selling a business: to family members, to managers, or to the larger group of employees. Certified Exit Planning Advisor Mark Beliveau of Gallagher-Flynn will be our lead presenter, Lauren Bass of the Vermont Small Business Development Center will discuss the importance of planning for management succession, and Don Jamison from the Vermont Employee Ownership Center will present a segment on selling a company to its employees through an ESOP or cooperative. The event is free, but space is limited, so please register ASAP! The seminar is co-presented by the RDCs of Vermont, Vermont Small Business Development Center, Vermont Employee Ownership Center, VMEC, and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.
